DIY REFLEXOLOGY

These videos are designed so you can learn how to self administer hand reflexology or short reflexology sequences on yourself or someone else. Of course, nothing beats the real thing, but all of them are relaxing, calming and most importantly, easy to do.

This is your treatment so adapt it where you want, spend more time on certain areas, go over and back to areas you enjoyed. Use a pressure that works for you and don’t worry about the technique, if it feels nice for you, then that is the most important thing when doing DIY reflexology.

It is really important to have a big glass of water after you have done this. You may have moved about some toxins and so want to give the body the chance to flush these out through your urine. Have a read of my Aftercare Advice here.

lower back pain and sciatica

This is a video I did for a client during lockdown. It can be done of your self but given the nature of the symptom, having someone else do it on you will be so much nicer and therefore a lot more beneficial.

The Sciatic nerve is the longest and largest spinal nerve in the human body and runs from the base of your spine, through your bum, down your thighs to send nerve endings down the lower limb. Sciatica is where this nerve is compromised in some way. There are different reasons for this and of course the treatment you have will depend on this. But the pain can be excruitiating, cause numbness and tingling and weak so it’s not one to easily ignore.

If you are suffering from sciatica or even just lower back pain, this is a really good short sequence you can do that I hope helps.

When the pain is bad, I’d recommend you doing this daily with a fairly gentle pressure which you can then build up on.

pregnancy & labour (or not)

Not just for pregnant people as this sequence is all about relaxation but oh is it amazing during pregnancy and labour. This hand reflexology is best when done to you by someone else (possibly a birthing partner). I would highly recommend doing it through your pregnancy - you can be on the sofa watching TV, in bed or wherever is calming and relaxing for you.

This is also lovely to do during the birth if there is some waiting around.

Digestion

We all have times when our digestion is a bit sluggish or even a bit too active! This is a lovely sequence you can do on yourself, or ask someone to do on you.

If sluggish, then you can use a firmer pressure, but if over active, then use a gentle touch.

Tension Headache

We can all get headaches for many a reasons but a lot of my clients come from tension. This sequence you can do on yourself, or ask someone to do on you.

Add into it some really calming breathing in through your nose counting to 5, and out through your mouth counting to 5.

sleep

This sequence is for those that struggle to get to sleep. To get the most out of it, make it part of your bedtime routine. Lie in bed, use a nice sleepy essential oil roller like Lavender and then let yourself drift off to sleep afterwards.

After you have finished and turned your lights off, one thing that I pass to my clients that helps me fall asleep, is to observe your breathing. Breath in, breath out, breathe in, breathe out. If your mind begins to wander, that’s ok, just bring it back to observing your breathing.

Sleep well.

stress

We all have it from time to time. Some more than others. But there really is no getting away from it. This sequence can be done anywhere and it’s a good one to remember. Do it in the loo at work if someone has annoyed you (or in the loo at home if your kids have been too much), do it on the way home from work if you’ve had a hard day.

Keep the pressure gentle and keep this one in your back pocket for times of need.
