What to expect at THE REFLEXOLOGY ROOM

THE REFLEXOLOGY ROOM is based in a residential area of Chiswick, West London.

Your first treatment will BE 60-75 minutes. This enables me to understand your medical history, an overview of how your body has been managing itself, any symptoms you want to address and what you would like to achieve from the treatment(s). All this information allows me to create a tailored treatment plan focusing specifically on your needs.

After your initial appointment, follow-ups will typically be one hour.

You will stay fully clothed except for shoes and socks and will have the chance to sit back and relax. It is best to wear loose trousers so that I can slightly roll them up.

how can reflexology help

By stimulating points on your foot that reflect different organs, glands and systems of the body, reflexology can begin to allow your body to initiate it’s own healing. Here are some of the reasons my clients come to see me:

  • Pregnancy symptoms; sickness, constipation, Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP), back pain, breech baby, overdue

  • Post-partum

  • Stress

  • Frozen shoulders or tight muscles

  • Headaches

  • Irregular periods

  • PMS

  • IBS and other digestive complications

  • Sinus problems

  • Insomnia

  • Pre-exam jitters

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Pre or post-operative care

  • Pre-conception

  • Strengthen your immune system

NB: My professional code of conduct does not permit me to diagnose, prescribe or claim to cure. Reflexology works on an individual basis, and it is not possible to know in advance how you or your body will respond. The only way to find out is to try it and see. Just one treatment should help you decide whether it will be of benefit to you but it does have an accumulative effect. Therefore, if you come to me for a specific reason, then I will recommend a series of treatments.

Aftercare advice

As I am working on your feet, I will be releasing toxins from within your body. It is therefore important to follow this advice for up to 24 hours, in order to maximise the benefits from the treatment.

  • Drink plenty of water as this will help hydrate the body, flush out toxins and improve energy levels.

  • Try to rest for a couple of hours following treatment and avoid strenuous exercise for the rest of the day as this will help the treatment work to its full potential.

  • Avoid tea, coffee and alcohol as these are stimulants and will reduce the effectiveness of the treatment.

  • Eat a light and healthy diet to allow your body to put its energy into healing.

  • Make a note of any reactions you experience for your next appointment.

A healing crises

Many people after receiving reflexology can experience a “healing crisis”.

  • A healing crisis occurs when the body tries to eliminate toxins at a faster rate than they can be disposed of. The more toxic one’s bodily systems are, the more severe the detoxification experience, or healing crisis. This reaction signifies that the reflexology treatment is working and the body is going through the process of cleaning itself of impurities, toxins and imbalances.

  • A healing crisis is temporary. It can occur immediately, within several days or several weeks after a reflexology treatment. Symptoms usually pass within several days, but can persist for several weeks. Often the crisis will come after a client has enjoyed the treatment and feels very relaxed!

  • A healing crisis signifies that a cleansing and purifying process is underway.

  • An emotional release is a typical component of most healing crises.
